THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of court processes and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a significant role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law since she was actively a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law, including custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
